Scott Bonner
No stranger to the WHL, Scott Bonner has been around the league
for decades now and has proven he knows what it takes to put a winning
team on the ice.
Bonner has been General Manager of the Vancouver Giants since day
one and has built the Giants into a WHL powerhouse. Bonner put together
the team that went to back to back Memorial Cups in 2006 and 2007,
winning in 07 in front of the hometown fans in Vancouver. Bonner
was also the architect of a team that won four straight BC Division
titles and recorded 100 points or more in four straight seasons
from 2006 to 2009. In the 2008-2009 season the Giants finished with
a franchise-high 57 wins and 119 points.
Bonner started in the WHL as a scout, working 14 years for the
New Westminster Bruins and Tri City Americans, Bonner has a proven
track record for discovering talent, he has been credited with finding
players like Milan Lucic and Cody Franson who were passed over in
the WHL bantam draft. Other NHL players Bonner has discovered include
Daymond Langkow, Todd Simpson, Sheldon Souray, Brain Boucher, Scott
Gomez, Ray Schultz, Mike Comrie and Zenith Komarniski. Bonner’s
ability to assess talent has helped to support and produced NHL
calibre players as well as further the success of the Vancouver
Giants.
