Kane & Team Canada Win Gold

Piestany SVK - Vancouver Giants forward Evander Kane notched an assist on the opening goal of the game for Canada as Team Canada strikes gold at the World U-18, Ivan Hlinka tourney, defeating Team Russia by the score of 6-3.

Kane assisted on Matt Ellis' goal at 8:42 of period one to tie the game 1-1. The Ellis goal was the first of 5 unanswered for Canada as Canada held leads of 3-1 after one and 4-1 after two periods of play. Canada strikes GOLD at this tourney for the 4th time in 5 years.

Kane, a resident of Vancouver BC, scored once and added three assists over the four games of the tournament. Kane will rejoin the Giants as they get set to open training camp next weekend.

Also of note: Vancouver Giants import forward Andrej Kudrna (Slovakia) notched one goal and two assists for Team Slovakia over the first three games in this tourney. At press time, Slovakia and the Czech Reublic score for the 5th place result had not yet been posted.
